Let’s be honest:  our ride would not be possible without our virtual army of volunteers.  If you would like to join this incredible group of people, make new friends and have lots of fun, we would love to have you join our team.  Please check out the following open positions, and contact us if you would like more information.  Thank YOU for all that you do!

Packet stuffing

    • When: TBD
    • What: Assist with stuffing rider packets and preparing packets for mailing.
    • Where: TBD
    • What you get: Pizza Party after stuffing.

Packet/Jersey Pickup

  • When: TBD
  • What: Assist with registration, selling merchandise, handing out packets, etc.
  • What you get: Freewheel t-shirt and lunch.

Rest Stop Coordinator

  • When: Before and during Freewheel.
  • What: Coordinate with all rest stop and food stop communities and businesses, conduct route research and determine placement of rest stops.
  • What you get:
    • All travel costs (gas, food, overnight accommodation) during route research.
    • Per diem during Freewheel.
    • 2 Freewheel t-shirts.

Route Marking

  • When: Before Freewheel.
  • What: Mark Freewheel route in and out of each campsite.
  • What you get:
    • All travel costs during route marking (gas, food, overnight accommodation).
    • Freewheel t-shirt.

Route Signage Coordinator

  • When: During Freewheel.
  • What: Deploy and take down signs along the Freewheel route (or coordinate volunteers to do this).
  • What you get:
    • Per diem for gas.
    • 2 Freewheel t-shirts.

Campsite Coordinator

  • When: During Freewheel.
  • What: 
    • Assist Freewheel Director in getting the campsite set up in overnight host community, and that all vendors and parties are in the correct location.
    • Assemble and put up campsite signage.
  • What you Get:
    • 2 Freewheel t-shirts.
    • Food per diem.

Bus Check-In and Loading

  • When: Before and after Freewheel.
    • 7 am sharp at Eastwood Baptist Parking lot Saturday, June 10.
    • 1-2 pm at Finish Town.
  • What: Assist with checking in bus passengers and loading boxed bikes onto buses.
  • What you get: Freewheel t-shirt.

SAG (Support and Gear Driver)

  • When: During Freewheel.
  • What: Provide SAG support to cyclists as they ride each day.  Note:  This position requires you to submit a copy of your driver’s license and insurance.  You must be at least 25 years old.
  • What you get:
    • Per diem for gas and water and ice expenses.
    • 2 Freewheel t-shirts.

Freewheel Merchandise Trailer Coordinator

  • When: During Freewheel.
  • What:  Assist with registration, selling merchandise, handing out packets, etc.  Requires minimum shift of 3 hours.
  • What you get:
    • Lunch/snacks based on time of day you work.
    • Depending on number of shifts/days worked, can earn additional goodies and recognition.

Friday Night Celebration Check-In

  • When: Evening of June 16, 2017.
  • What: Assist with checking wrist bands and tickets at entrance to Friday night celebration dinner.
  • What you get: Freewheel t-shirt.

Campsite Sweep (Indoor & Outdoor)

  • When: During Freewheel.
  • What: Do a morning sweep of campsite to ensure it is tidier than when we found it.
  • What you get: Freewheel t-shirt.

Baggage Loading and/or Unloading Coordinator

  • When: During Freewheel.
  • What: Coordinate with host community volunteers in loading and unloading baggage truck (you may choose either loading OR unloading).
  • What you get:
    • Freewheel t-shirt.
    • Depending on number of shifts/days worked, can earn additional goodies and recognition.

Information Coordinator (Question/Answer person in camp)

  • When: During Freewheel.
  • What: Be available to answer questions and troubleshoot problems on behalf of the Freewheel Director.
  • What you get:
    • 2 Freewheel t-shirts.
