FreeWheel Day-5: Thursday, June 14
Tahlequah,
0 / 18/ 27 / 48 / or whatever miles. (I rode 19.66 miles)

Today is off-day, do whatever you want day. There were three optional bicycle routes north of Tahlequah today. Several floated down the scenic Illinois River with some of the canoe float trip companies. Others visited downtown Tahlequah and the Cherokee Nation Capitol.

My first stop was Bev's Laundromat. She will wash your laundry for you for $3.50 one load and $6.00 for two loads. While she was busy washing my clothes and making my yucky cycling gloves smell April fresh, I had a big breakfast at Cindy Lou's and visited the Cherokee Nation Capitol. After taking my laundry to the tent. I rode south of Tahlequah and visited Tsa-la-gi and the Cherokee National Museum. On the way there I stopped and visited with a Kiowa who helped me learn some Cherokee phrases. O-si-yo and dto-hi-tsu. (hello and how are you?).

When I got back into town I met up with some other FreeWheelers and had lunch at Sam & Ella's Chicken palace (no, not salmonella) with Chad, Kendra, Ben, and Dan, Vickie and Tomilyn. After lunch I picked up a handle bar plug at the local bike shop.

Around 5:00 PM the rain started. We had thunderstorms late into the night. Several moved into the gym. Some tents were relocated by strong winds. I rode out the storm like several others and amazingly kept almost everything dry. Everything can dry out tomorrow in Jay.
